Savannah Beach & Racquet Club is a wonderful condominium complex located on Tybee’s North Beach.  Because there is limited public access to our beach, our beach is not crowded.  You can sit on the beach and watch your children play without concern.

We are often asked, “Can you swim in this area?”  Of course, you can swim.  This is the beach !!!  Back in the day, as I recall my childhood, there were jetties that lined the beach.  We trapped crabs around the jetties and played with them.  Now, due to the beach erosion over many many years, the jetties are covered by the water.  Even at low tide, you can’t see the jetties anymore.  You will see signs posted warning of “underwater obstruction”.  Those signs mark the jetties.    You will also see signs cautioning of strong current and riptides.  Those warnings should not be taken lightly.  From the first street on the south beach to the last street on the north beach of Tybee, you will see those signs.  Rip tides and strong current is not limited to the north beach.  It is common in all beach locations up and down the coastline.

Another question is “are you on the ocean or the river?”.   I guess the answer to that depends on which map you’re using.   To the west of us is Savannah and the Savannah River and Savannah Port.  To the east is the Atlantic Ocean.  You can see both from our complex.  Directly north of us are the islands off of South Carolina.  You have a beautiful view.   I think our location minimizes the ‘wave action’ you’ll experience.    We are not a surfing area.  There are no lifeguards on the north beach.

Finally, you will have the pleasure of watching dolphin swim by all day long – hundreds of them, and you’ll be very close to them.  All the cargo ships in and out of the Savannah Port will pass in front of you.  These ships are huge and great fun to watch.  The gambling boat from Wilmington Island passes in front of us several times a day.  A variety of other watercraft, dolphin tour boats and shrimp boats pass by us many times each day.  Jet skiers love the north beach – we have kayakers, wind surfers and all kinds of water entertainment.   The best part is that we are a beachfront complex.  You are 80 feet from the beach when you stand by our pool.  It doesn’t get more upfront and personal than Savannah Beach & Racquet Club. 

Sleeping accommodations vary with each condo. Each kitchen has a full refrigerator and stove and some have a dishwasher and some disposals.   Each owner provides a private cleaning and laundry service to ensure you have fresh linens and a very clean vacation home.

Coin-operated laundry facilities are located at the north end of each floor except for the third floor of Building B.

Tybee has wonderful restaurants located from underneathe the Lazaretto Bridge all the way to the opposite end of the Island.  Some you will see driving down the streets and some you have to look for because they’re hidden away.

Please … do not speed on Tybee.   We have an outstanding police force and there is zero tolerance for speeders.  Our officers are there to protect our residents and guests … and they do a marvelous job!
